Our History

Once upon a time there was an ancient Mill to crush olives and obtain wonderful oil… today it houses a lovely and charming inn and an extraordinary restaurant with typical Tuscan cuisine.

It's a true inn, one that keeps an authentic and unadulterated spirit, one where wayfarers used to stop during their travels and rest in front of the hearth. One of those inns where guests arrive and stay with pleasure because they feel welcome, one which is easy to reach but hard to leave.

Whatever the reason of your trip to Tuscany, the Locanda is the right place. The right spot for enjoying the beauty of the countryside around Cortona, to taste the true flavors of dishes that are simple, but full of tradition, to offer lovers a romantic lodging or to go and discover the many artistic treasures that surround it.

The Locanda is located in fact in Montanare, a few miles from the Etruscan Cortona, in the highest part of the Esse Valley which leads to green Umbria and to Lake Trasimeno.
